What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is provided until appropriate support is found or until the crisis is resolved.
Course Objectives:
This course serves to prepare participants to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.
Course participants will learn how to recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis and encourage that person to:
Talk about declines in their mental well-being
Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
Reach out to these supports
Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis
Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being
Who Is This Course For?
Anyone can benefit from Mental Health First Aid! No prior training or knowledge about mental health is required.
Families affected by mental health challenges, Teachers, Health Service Providers, Emergency Workers, Front-Line Workers who deal with the public, Human Resources Professionals, Managers and Employers are just a few of the groups who have benefitted from MHFA.

About Me
I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). I am a Mental Health First Aid trainer through the Mental Health Commission of Canada. I am also trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and am an active public speaker and educator.
My work supports families faced with mental health challenges, individuals who are ready to stop the cycle of self-sabotage, and professionals struggling with balance.
